1. Normal tooth 24: Sinus loculation palatal to tooth 24P
Tooth 24 appears normal radiographically. No signs of endodontic or periradicular pathology are present. The periodontal ligament space is of uniform width around the tooth, and the lamina dura is intact. A loculation of the left maxillary sinus extends palatal to the apical third of the palatal root of tooth 24, which is the likely source of a perceived periapical radiolucency on conventional imaging.
Axial views of tooth 24
These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the intact lamina dura around the roots of tooth 24. The sinus loculation palatal to the palatal root of tooth 24 is evident, and does not represent a site of pathology.
Buccolingual views of tooth 24
These buccolingual cross-sectional images demonstrate the sinus loculation palatal to the apical third of the palatal root of tooth 24. The contiguous lamina dura is intact. No periapical pathology is present.
Mesiodistal views of tooth 24
These mesiodistal cross-sectional images demonstrate the normal appearance of the periradicular bone located mesial and distal to the roots of tooth 24.
