1. Possible dentigerous cyst on tooth 22
The follicle surrounding the crown of tooth 22 is enlarged, and has extended to the crest of the alveolar process at site 23 (as shown in the coronal reference slice). Given the size of this enlarged follicle, a dentigerous cyst may be present around the crown of tooth 22.
Axial slices of anterior second quadrant
These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the horizontally impacted tooth 22 that may have been displaced superiorly by the dentigerous cyst associated with its crown. Note the slight buccolingual expansion of the maxillary alveolar process. The eruption of tooth 23 has been prevented by the displaced tooth 22. No root resorption is present on any of the permanent teeth in the second quadrant.
Impacted tooth 23
The eruption of tooth 23 has been prevented by the apically displaced tooth 22 and its associated dentigerous cyst. The crown of the mesioangularly impacted tooth 23 is positioned adjacent to the buccal surface of the alveolar process. Root formation is approximately 60% complete on tooth 23 and the root apex is positioned against the anterior wall of the left maxillary sinus.
Impacted tooth 25
Tooth 24 has been distally displaced by the dentigerous cyst associated with tooth 22. This has resulted in crowding of tooth 25, which has been slightly palatally impacted. The crown of the tooth is positioned against the palatal surface of the maxillary alveolar process and the developing root of the tooth is positioned buccally. The root is approximately 30% formed.
