1. Implant 47 impinges upon right mandibular nerve canal
The implant at site 47 impinges upon the right mandibular nerve canal. Approximately 75% of the canal cross-section has been obstructed by the implant. This is likely the source of the patient's symptoms. Note that the implant appears to be fully embedded in bone, and no significant signs of peri-implant bone loss are noted.
Given the long period of time since the placement of the implant, it may not be possible to regain sensation in this region. In addition, removal of the implant may further damage the residual nerve.
Axial views of implant 47
These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the intact peri-implant bone at site 47.
Mesiodistal views of implant 47
These mesiodistal cross-sectional images demonstrate a normal level of the crestal bone adjacent to the mesial and distal aspects of the implant at site 47. The implant apex extends into the right mandibular nerve canal.
Buccolingual views of implant 47
These buccolingual cross-sectional images demonstrate extension of the apex of the implant at site 47 into the mandibular nerve canal. Approximately 75% of the cross-sectional diameter of the canal is occupied by the implant cylinder.
