1. Partially obturated root canal in tooth 46
Tooth 46 exhibits a C-shaped root with a C-shaped root canal. This root canal is partially obturated, and the segment of canal that extends through mesial root of the tooth remains completely unobturated. This is the source of the rarefying osteitis associated with tooth 46.
2. Radicular cyst in tooth 46
The region of periapical rarefying osteitis associated with tooth 46 exhibits a round cystic shape, which suggests that a radicular cyst is present.
Sagittal views of tooth 46
These sagittal cross sectional images demonstrate the radicular cyst associated with tooth 46, as well as the partially obturated root canals of the tooth.
Coronal views of tooth 46
These coronal cross sectional images demonstrate the partial obturation of the mesial root of tooth 46, as well as the rarefying osteitis that extends from the root apices to the alveolar crest along the mesial surface of the root of the tooth.
Axial views of tooth 46
These axial cross sectional images demonstrate the unfilled mesial canal and the partially obturated distal canal and isthmus on tooth 46.
