1. Trapped loculation in posterior inferior left mandible
A loculation of the keratocyst has been entrapped by the reparative bone in the posterior inferior left mandible. Drainage is not possible as a result, and will result in a recurrence.
Axial views of separated loculation in posterior left mandible
These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the lingual position of the loculation that has separated from the remainder of the marsupialized keratocyst and has become entrapped within the reparative bone. The left mandibular nerve courses buccally to this loculation.
2. Reparative bone formation at periphery of marsupialized keratocyst
A broad zone of granular reparative bone has formed at the periphery of the marsupialized odontogenic keratocyst in the posterior left mandible. A significant reduction in the size of the entity has occurred.
Sagittal views of posterior left mandible
These sagittal cross-sectional images demonstrate the shrinking marsupialized keratocyst, as well as the lone unilocular cyst that has become trapped within the reparative bone adjacent to the inferior border of the mandible.
Axial views of posterior third quadrant
These axial cross-sectional images demonstrate the normal appearance of teeth 36 and 37, as well as the reparative bone formation at the periphery of the keratocyst.
