Site 41: Apically positioned implant
A 3.5x14mm cylinder was overlaid on the adjacent images at site 41. The collar of this implant is positioned at the level of the apical third of the root of existing tooth 41.
1. External resorption on tooth 41Li
A broad zone of external resorption is present on the lingual surface of tooth 41. This region of resorption is irregularly shaped and has an epicenter at the midroot level. The resorption is continuous with the root canal of tooth 41, but has not devitalized the tooth. Due to the periodontal bone loss on the lingual surface of the root of tooth 41, this resorptive defect remains supracrestal.
Axial views of tooth 41
These axial cross sectional images demonstrate the lingual position of the irregularly shaped resorptive defect that originates at the midroot level on tooth 41.
Coronal views of tooth 41
The alveolar bone is intact on the mesial and distal surfaces of the root of tooth 41.
Sagittal views of tooth 41
The irregular shape of the resorptive defect on the lingual surface of the root of tooth 41 is evident in these images.
